Weekenders

If you do not have access to the U3A website, please ask Sandra Green for a copy of the programme or give her a ring on 0115 8408132 or email on the form below. Unfortunately due to printer problems the programme was not available at the last meeting as promised.
Just a few members attended the Vintage Fair at the Albert Hall in Nottingham on 16th September and I must say some of the outfits spotted brought back memories of my youth in the Sixties. Later that day nine of us attended the Quiz Night at Rolls-Royce, which we really enjoyed, with one member winning £10 on the Bingo and one team came a close second to winning the quiz. We hope to return again soon!
Seven of us had a Weekenders Day Out to Dobbies Garden Centre & Retail Park nr. Chesterfield, where we started off with coffee, checked out the bargains in the shops and ended up having lunch, four of us at the Dog & Quayle at Underwood and the other three moving on to MacArthur Glen Retail Park and then lunch. Obviously a hardcore bunch of shoppers!
We are having Sunday Lunch at The Miller’s Barn, Cinderhill on 7th October.
A few events are listed below for information. If you are interested in any of these, ring Sandra who will put you in touch with others who might also be attending.
October 13th – Weekenders Day Out to Derby – We are meeting at 11 am at Derby Bus Station and then going on for coffee at Derby Cathedral where there is a Textiles & Craft Exhibition – ’All Stitched Up’ textiles & mixed media by Ruth Kahn and Diane Kane. We shall then “do our own thing” but meet up again at Derby Bus Station to return home via the Red Arrow. Care to join us?
October 20th – Weekenders Get-Together at the home of Jean & Dave Arrowsmith at 7 pm. The theme of the evening is “Rainbows” and we will each bring a sweet or savoury dish in the colour we picked out previously; we shall also all be wearing as many different colours as possible and there will be a prize for the one wearing the highest number of different colours. There will also be a Rainbow-based quiz! Numbers restricted but there are still places available.
November 3rd – There is a Winter Craft Fair at Southwell Cathedral if anyone is interested in going.
November 4th – We are off for Sunday Lunch at The Tee House (Hucknall Golf Club) at 12.30 pm.
