In December we read the Daphne Du Maurier classic “Frenchman’s Creek”. I was not expecting to enjoy it as I personally am not into historical novels but this was very good. In January we are having a surprise selection of books picked out for us by the librarian at Hucknall Library so it will be quite interesting to see what she comes up with. All my family will be receiving a book from me this Christmas (along with other gifts of course) as I feel people should be encouraged to read more, especially the youngsters; let’s prise them away from their computers and Ipads etc. Even my newest grandson (nine months) is having a book; this one is where Big Ted is encouraging Little Ted to learn to use the potty – and what do you know, if he is successful a button is pressed and there is a round of applause with cheers!
