Music for Pleasure September Report

Music for Pleasure Group
The Music for Pleasure group enjoyed a classical evening on Tuesday 25th August. The first half of the evening consisted of Vivaldi’s much loved work The Four Seasons played by Nigel Kennedy. This was followed by various works by Beethoven, including the rousing finale of his violin concerto, his piano concerto number 5, The Emperor, the first movement of his wellknown Symphony Number 5 and the second movement of his Pastoral Symphony Number 6.
Following a break for refreshments and a chat, the programme continued with a selection of baroque music, including music by Marcello, Corelli, Bach, Handel, Telemann and a stirring finale by way of the allegro from Vivaldi’s concerto in b flat for 2 trumpets.
To mark her recent passing, the group finally listened to Cilla Black’s ‘You’re my World’, plus a couple of songs by K D Lang. Although no one seems to want to acknowledge how the nights are drawing in and the festive season looming on the horizon, the group decided to make arrangements for their Christmas lunch. There will be no meeting in November, but the group will meet for Christmas lunch on Thursday 3rd December at the Nabb Inn.
A programme of choral music was the choice for the next meeting on Tuesday 29th September.
