Music for Pleasure – A New Name

Music for Pleasure
On Tuesday 2nd December the ‘Music for Pleasure’ group met at the home of the co-ordinator, John Peters. We had a very interesting and stimulating evening.
During the first half we listened to cello music. We enjoyed extracts from the concertos of John Garth played by the Avison Ensemble with Richard Tunnicliffe. Following this we listened to Julian Lloyd Webber playing the music of his brother Andrew and then we played some music from Pablo Casals.
After refreshments we listened to some classic pop records of our youth, including ‘He Ain’t Heavy he’s my brother’ by The Hollies. ‘House of the Rising Sun’ by the Animals and ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon. The memories came flooding back.
Another great night. A lovely social evening enjoyed by all. A light hearted musical interlude.
The next meeting is on Tuesday 27th January when we will be listening to clarinet, bassoon and oboe plus some country and motown.
Still got room for new members. It is not a serious evening. It’s in the title of the group its ‘Music for Pleasure’ please come along I feel sure you will enjoy it.
