Members' Own Meeting – 15th March 2017

The Group’s next meeting is on Wednesday, 15th March, 2017 at Central Methodist Church at 2 pm.  It is a Members’ Own meeting when an object from the past is brought to show other people and we are told about its history and why it is important to the owner.
Looking ahead.  A visit to Ilkeston in April is planned.  One of our favourite speakers, Stephen Flinders,  will take us on a walk around the town and explain its history.  We will also visit the church of St. Mary’s and maybe check out the museum as well. If you would like to go please include your name on the list.
There is a visit to the National Coal Mining Museum on Wednesday, 17th May 2017 leaving from Hucknall Market at 9.30 am departing from the museum at 4 pm. The Museum is free but a returnable deposit of £3 is needed for underground tours.  Would members who wish to go please check their diaries and be ready to sign up and pay £10 bus fare at the March meeting.  Any cheques to be payable to Hucknall & District U3A – thanks.
21st June 2017 is the date for a walk round the General Cemetery in Nottingham.  This is an event specially for our U3A history group when Kevin, who did the fantastic walk around the Lace Market, will lead us again on this occasion.  The starting point is the Canning Circus top end of the cemetery and it will finish at the bottom near the Trent University tram stop.
