The 9th Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 12th April at Hucknall Leisure Centre.
The minutes of the 2016 AGM were agreed as a true record.
The committee proposed that our Business Secretary Barrie Saunders to be appointed as the 2nd Vice Chair. This proposal was passed by the members present.
Our financial scrutiniser, Chartered Accountant Geoff Cree summarised the accounts from January 2017 to December 2017 reporting a surplus for that period of £2017.15.
The summary of the accounts was accepted by the meeting. Our thanks were extended to Geoff who carries out this professional task as a willing volunteer.
This was followed by the Chairman’s report which is included with this newsletter.
And lastly:
Hucknall U3A started and now flourishes thanks to the hard work and dedication of a small group of volunteers and we now have 415 members and 48 interest groups.
A key member of that initial group was John Ellis who was also our second Chairman.
He continues to be very proactive as an energetic and popular Chair of the Social Sub-Committee.
John’s continued work, energy and dedication was acknowledged at the AGM by the membership who were pleased to make him our first honorary president.
His official badge of honour was presented by Dianne White whose late husband Richard was our first ever chairman and a member of the start up group with John.
John responded with a heartfelt moving speech that was warmly applauded by the meeting.
