Lunch Group June-Aug

The Lunch Group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon (unless otherwise stated) at a different restaurant each month. The menus vary in price and content but hopefully average out over the year at a reasonable cost. It is an opportunity for members to meet together socially and try out different restaurants which, as individuals, they may not have had the chance to try before. We always have a quiz which is usually related to the venue or its theme. We hope you will find something of interest to your “taste” and look forward to meeting up with you each month.
On May 25th thirty three of us dined at Le Bistrot Pierre in Nottingham and the French Dingbats quiz was won by Jean Rowe and Lorna Hewitt. It had been a bit hectic the night before when the restaurant rang to tell me that our menu choices I had sent in were from last month’s menu not this month’s (they had omitted to tell me the menu changed on the first Tuesday of every month!). After lots of phone calls I did send them the amended choices but on the day they made up for this by their good service and excellent food. We all decided we would like to return again to this venue.
I have had to change the venue for July as I was told our party would be seated upstairs, which meant twenty-five steps up a spiral staircase. No thanks! said I. So I have provisionally booked 281 Mansfield Road, Mansfield for this date. I will hopefully have the menu at the June meeting.
The next three lunches will be as follows:
On June 22nd – Sprinters, Arnold – £2 deposit
On July 27th – 281 Mansfield Road, Mansfield – No deposit needed
On August 24th – The Waggon at Halam – No deposit needed
Places are limited at some venues so make sure you get your name down as soon as possible. I shall need a deposit for some of these lunches. The menus are on the U3A website so if you have your name down please let me know your menu choices as soon as possible.
