What a treasure of a walk John Ellis gave us this month. The walk took us past three Pleasley old textile mills and the lakes to power them deep down in a secluded valley which then opened out into fields, a World War Remembrance cenotaph and houses for the foremen of the mills. A leisurely, yet at one point steep, meander took us back to the car park. However this time John excelled himself, no longer content with horses this time we had to share a field with a fierce-looking BULL!
Our next walk will be on Thursday 15th October starting at 10.00 in the small village of West Leake, near the church. The walk is 4.2 miles with a steep section about a quarter of the way round. Hopefully you will be able to enjoy the view while you wait for me. Finally we will retire to the village’s Star Inn for a well deserved rest and refreshment.
