On Thursday 3rd September 17 of our members visited The Grand Tour Exhibition currently on show at The Contemporary Galleries and Derby Museum. Pablo Bernstein’s exhibition of Chatsworth artefacts is on display till Sept 20th and at Derby Museum and Art Gallery there was a major showing of the works of Joseph Wright. A Derby artist of great renown. At both exhibitions we had the good fortune to have the best possible guides who were excellent at passing on their in depth knowledge of their subjects. Our excursion was planned and organised by First Art and funded by the Arts Council. We are hoping that we will be offered many similar events during the next two years of their plans to bring make more culture accessible to the ex South Notts coalfields areas.
