Currently we are gradually increasing our ride distances as preparation for ‘The Great Notts Cycle’ event on Sunday 21st June. We have a group entered in the 50 mile option and should be setting off from the Trent embankment at about 8.45/9.00am.
It is a good day out with a wide range of ages and cycling machines taking part.
On the day spectators are most welcome and there are activities and various options for refreshments throughout the day.
Our most recent longer ride was on Wednesday 27th May when 10 riders ably led by John Saunders covered 34 miles via Hill Top, Nottingham canal, a mixture of road work and cycle tracks alongside some of the extended tram route to Beeston Weir, along the river to Trent Bridge then National Cycle Route 6 by QMC, Basford, Bulwell Hall and back to Hucknall.
One highlight was getting close to a heron near Awsworth on the Nottingham canal, the photograph of which was submitted by Val Gant to ‘Springwatch’ – it is now on their Facebook page.
The photographs are from the 27th May.
