Unfortunately due to wet and windy weather conditions we did cancel the 1st April outing. However after that it has been mainly sunshine all the way. Marion Smalley our lone member from the Arnold U3A recently completed a cycling tour in Cambodia and she is now zooming up the hills. To get to our weekly rides she first cycles over from home to our meeting point at the Leisure Centre (completing an extra 11 miles in the process). On 15th April she led the group on an interesting new route :
Hucknall – Linby Trail – Newstead Abbey – Ravenshead – Blidworth Bottoms – Calverton – Patchings Farm – Burnstump Park – Papplewick – Linby – Hucknall.
This included some road biking and travelling down Whinbush Lane from the A614 to Calverton which was ‘interesting’. Despite being a main link road it is rather narrow and is usually very busy.
Remember our sessions are weekly and we meet every Wednesday at 9am at the Leisure Centre.
