Weekenders' Coffee Club November

The first of the Weekenders’ Coffee Club took place on Saturday, 4th October when Katy Bradshaw, a Reflexologist, gave a demonstration and explanation of what Reflexology is. Lindsay Smith, Doreen Newton, Pam Farrell and Jean Green all had the pleasure of having their feet “done” and felt very relaxed afterwards.
The Coffee Club is a new venture for the Weekenders Group and will be on the first Saturday of each month at the Co-ordinator’s house. The second one was on Saturday, 1st November when we had a go at making an original hand-crafted Christmas Card. The December one will be on Saturday, 7th and this will include a Book & Recipe Swap. If you have a favourite recipe you would like to share, email it to Sandra Green and she will print off enough copies for the group. Places are limited so make sure your name is down.
WE card making
Twenty of us had Afternoon Tea at Lottie’s Secret Tearooms on Thursday, 16th October and this was very much enjoyed, especially by John Berrill, who was the only male on this occasion! We started off with hot mulled cider, followed by exquisite sandwiches, treacle and honey trifle, two sorts of scones with jam and cream, coffee walnut cupcakes, strawberry meringues and peanut and chocolate slice and pots and pots of tea in huge china teapots. Thanks to those who kindly offered lifts.
That was then followed on Saturday, 18th by lunch at our favourite local restaurant, Arunothai. Ten of us enjoyed our lunch and the conversation varied widely from restaurant venues, children and grandchildren, to funeral arrangements! Sounds morbid but it was hilarious in parts.
The Weekenders’ Sunday Lunch will be at The Three Ponds at Nuthall on Sunday, 16th November at 1 pm. Names are also being taken for the Weekenders Group Christmas Lunch at the Horse & Groom, Linby on Saturday, 13th December. Please give your name in now to make sure of a place.
Lindsay Smith will once again host a Social Evening on Saturday, 29th November (the day before St. Andrew’s Day) when it is hoped to have a Scottish theme so dig out your tartans!
