MID-LENGTH WALKING GROUP
Our September walk, led by Roy Brown was a 7 mile circular starting from
Mappleton in Derbyshire. The route took us through Ilam and over the hills to Dovedale. The views were outstanding and the weather really good. We took it nice and steady over the stepping stones and had a leisurely lunch by the river, where we were invaded by very hungry ducks!! We returned to Mappleton along the other side of the river. Our 22 walkers had a very enjoyable day but were rather disappointed to find the pub closed on our return!!
Our next walk is on: Monday 20th October – From near Newark
Christmas walk/meal on November 17th ….. I’ve worked out a 5 mile walk starting at 10 a.m. from The White Lion pub in Selston; which has been refurbished recently and has a 40 seater restaurant room. I’ve booked the room for our ‘Christmas’ get-together, which will follow the walk. I will email the menu to you all soon and will be collecting £5 deposits/ menu choices at the October U3A meeting.
