HUCKNALL U3A SHORT WALKS GROUP
22 of us braved the high winds on our walk from the Bird in Hand, Blidworth. Our route took us on the 19 stile & gates path towards Ravenshead past the “Rickets Stone” through which children were put as it was supposed to protect them from Rickets.
Our route continued through Fountaindale, where Robin Hood & Friar Tuck met, then back through woodland & farmland to Blidworth for a very enjoyable lunch & of course a drink.
Our next walk is a four and a half mile walk around Hickling and the Grantham Canal with 4/5 stiles. Meet at the Plough Inn [LE14 3AH] for a 10.00 a.m. start. Park locally if there is no room at the pub. Looking forward to a walk with no steep climbs, so come and join us.
